I fill the oil filter full, roll it in my hands, tipping it sideways as I do this while the oil is absorbed into the filter element, then fill it again about 2/3 of the way. Every once in a while the lights stay on for a bit with my 800, but a rev of the engine and they go out.Vacuum petcocks suck. To get fuel into the oil gas has to get past the petcock. The petcock can leak 2 ways: not properly shutting off or having a diaphram issue and leaking fuel into the manifold thru the vacuum hose. "Best" fix is an earlier non-vacuum off-on-reserve petcock. Or rebuild or replace yours.If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem. The last would be to check the voltage on the regulator. Connect DC meter to Black/Yellow and White wires on the regulator connector. Idle should be 12v. At 6 - 8k rpm you should have 14-15volts.
