Lim gasket 3800.
If the gaskets are leaking externally, change them NOW!!! Bar's Leaks will be worse than nothing since it's giving a false sense of security. Also, it won't work with the design of the LIM gaskets. Folks have tried, and purchased themselves another 3800 as a result. For the oil pressure, the gauge and sender are known liars.
Ok so I finally tackled my LIM gasket problem this weekend THINKING that was the problem with my coolant leak.... Turns out I was wrong. When I got the LIM off and flipped it over to clean and remove gasket I see a Giant Chunk of the steel missing from the bottom of it... It seems as if the only way is to remove the front knock sensor unless I'm prepared to do it by the tradional flush method. I looked underneath and what I think is a knock sensor is above a subframe ...I have a video recorded of someone changing it step by step, but they don't include all the gaskets and stuff you'll need. I replaced the LIM gaskets on my Buick at 66k miles. Even at that low mileage, they were estimated by folks very knowledgeable about 3800 V6's to be a month away from failure. Hi All, I am a newbie to this forum , and have had mt 2000 gtp for 2 years now. This fall I noticed coolant pooling over top of my front bank of injectors (coolant only no oil in the mix) . I shop vacced it out ran the car and noticed it pooled up again. This time I could see a path leading...It runs really good except at idle, it doesn’t idle smooth and runs at around 800-900 rpm. I pull the codes and get p0171 – Bank 1 too lean. The fuel trim is staying around 15-20% and doesn’t fluctuate with higher RPMs. The upstream o2 sensor is reading around .05 and not really fluctuating, so I immediately suspect a vacuum leak.
It was initially listed around a month ago, so hopefully if it does look like it could just be the elbow or LIM gasket they'll be willing to negotiate a bit.
