servers designated New (Raiden, Alpha, Phantom, Sagitarrius) have a big xp bonus which is nice if you want to level multiple classes - if you just want to follow the main story it's whatever. Jp server is far better ping wise. Just pick tonberry or kujata, lots of english speaking players, and majority are from singapore. JP servers are about a 50-90ms lower difference from the OCE servers for me (also from Singapore) but YMMV.
