Plus, you can guard counter on a shield that can parry, so you have that as an option whenever the other doesn't feel like the right choice. The only, only drawback to guard counters is that it's not dual wielding. The L1 button was made so strong that it had to be nerfed, and other playstyles buffed, for there to be any semblance of fairness.
