You will have to rotate the throttle handle forward or reverse to get the control out. They are a tight fit and you have to fanagle the control out.

Remove the oil filler plug on the top of stator before you pull it away from the shaft so you don't suck the oil seal out of it. Oil will run out of the stator section when you pull it off so have a drip pan handy. Once you pull the stator, the wear ring just slips right off. I can get mine apart in about 15 minutes.
