I just returned from a fast-paced 6,400 mile winter cross country road trip on it where it experienced just about every weather condition. I changed the oil at about the 6,000 mile mark. I took the stock slip on muffler off and rode around for 1000 miles to make sure I wouldn’t have any issues running straight pipes until I can get a new exhaust. So far I have replaced the spark plugs, HT leads, plug caps, filter and also the inlet rubber boots on the injectors as they were cracked and perished. The problem doesn't start until the engine is warm, obviously when cold there is more petrol being put into the cylinders. Check the forums, but this is a great bike. One of the downsides I can mention are accessories. There really isn't much out there. If you do a full exhaust, there is a mod to the air cleaner to bring in more fresh air.
