I'm in one of my LGS's that I hang out at and I see there are 3 Marlin "JM" stamped 336 30-30's on the rack. So naturally I want to take a look at them...I look at the markings on the barrel, one is "SC", one is "A", now, I've looked around abit but other than seeing that "yea, they are Marlin models" of the 336, what is the real difference?

I know they marked the barrels “AS”starting in 1988 when the safety was added but I am not sure exactly when the roll mark on the barrel went back to “A”.Forend end cap vs barrel band. Yeah, $250.00 is a little low. The Glenfield Model 30A is not the Marlin Model 336, but in another sense, it is. The main difference is that the Glenfield has a walnut stained hardwood stock (usually birch) whereas the Marlin as a walnut stock. Depending upon condition, with the scope, it should be in the $350.00 to $400.00 range.
