I was doing a Kuva Thrall hunt on Larissa, Neptune (a mobile defense mission) as Wisp, solo. My lich spawned early on, she converted some Thralls, then I got the Requiem combination wrong and she left. After a few minutes killing random enemies to regain energy (the joys of a magnetic lich), I finally put the data mass into the first console.

I still don't understand why we can't get the 2.5-5% chance for 500 kuva per thrall back. Let's do the math. It was confusingly written and not clear if it was 5% for either a relic (bugged and thus requiem mod) or 500 kuva with a 50:50 chance or a 5% chance for a mod and a 5% chance for kuva.
It's pretty frustrating that Kuva Thralls look almost identical to Synthesis Targets, and vice versa. A blue aura doesn't even feel like a "Kuva thrall"-- Thralls should be changed so that they have a black-and-red aura as pictured above, which looks like they're consumed by actual Kuva. After the Lich reaches level 5 they will stop resetting Rage. From there it becomes better to just blitz through missions since they only despawn after a certain number of Thrall kills. While it can work to farm converted Thralls, it's much faster to just brute force the sequence. On average you will unlock 2 Requiems and brute force the third.
