ABSTRACT. In 2022, a total of 40,671 eligible applicants entered the drawing for an elk hunting license, excluding the Pure Michigan Hunt (PMH) drawing. This number represented a 2% decrease compared to the previous year, but overall, the number of applicants has been increasing by an average of 1.3% annually since 2010.

There were almost 74,000 Pure Michigan Hunt applications sold this year, with an average of 2.7 applications for each applicant.
