The gel top coat in combination with the lacquer gives the soft gel structure and durability and the matte underside adheres much better to nail glue. Multiple thin coats is better than less thick coats for lasting ime. 1-2 layers of top coat (one glitter smoothing + one regular for textured polish) No more than two of the color should be needed. Three for some glitters. I usually do 4-5 layers (base, 2-3 color, top) and change once a week with minimal chipping. Magnetic polish, no wipe clear top, then aurora powder.
