I haven't tried Tradovate, but Ninja Trader is good. Normally $500 margin for daytrading index e-minis, $50 /contract for micros, double right now due to the high volatility. Very customizable and as fuzzyp44 mentioned, lots of people develop features, add-ons, custom indicators, etc.

This looks quite appealing to me, as it would allow me to reduce my all-in commissions quite significantly.
