When you get this quest, do not do it via join request, i.e. do not join someone else's multiplayer group in progress. Instead, attempt it by yourself first to get the monster's intro cutscene. You can then abandon the quest if you like and do it by join request, as you will have unlocked the scene in your gallery by seeing it once.
