I have a 2003 prius that suddenly stopped running with the hybrid system warning light illuminated. Took it to the dealer and they told me it logged the following DTC's: P3101, P3190, P3191 as well as C1213 and C1521. They told me that the Engine management system ECU and relay need to be replaced to the tune of $1300 for parts and labor.

Barely a month I got p3190 and p3191 with symptom somewhat identical to inverter problem, but this time it wont even go on drive mode and stay on neutral ICE shutdown after 2 seconds. I'm cleaning the maf sensor and throttle assembly checking all hoses for leaks. Then it would try to start but: Trying to start was rough 5 seconds and never started up, just threw codes and said check hybrid system. Engine Codes P0123, P2135, P3191 and HV Battery ECU: P0A0F. Tried doing it 4 times, but nothing gets better. I took stuff apart and checked it and put it back together, and no change.The way a Prius starts can fool you if you haven't worked on it before. The electric motor that starts it is something like 13 HP, so instead of sounding like a regular car's 12 volt starter struggling to crank, it just spins the engine up to 1200 rpm right away (which to most people sounds like "the engine starts").
