In my experience after calibration the black levels seem comparable on both. The difference really is in color depth and brightness. The S90C will have much more vibrant colors (especially reds, holy wow they are red. Like just the most red you’ve ever seen it’s wild) and it’s noticeably brighter. But like I said, the interface is annoying.

The s90 maintains better picture contrast, highlights, and colour pop over the s89C. In fact, I found that to duplicate the s90’s “filmmaker mode”, I had to put the s89 in “movie” mode. As well, the s90s “eco” mode, though less bright, was almost a setting between the s89s “standard” and “eco”.
