After shooting the CVA Optima V2 rifle at the range and in the field here is what I like: Light weight at just over 6.5 Lb, especially for a black powder rifle. Even with 26″ fluted barrel it feels relatively compact.
Good choice in purchasing a Wolf, I own the Optima V2. Even though it states you can use 150 grains, I never found the need to use more than 110 -120 grains. I have shot .430 240 grain XTP, .430 265 FTX, 250 grain SST. They are all accurate, I have only harvested deer with the XTP. Dec 17, 2018 · The break open latching on the Wolf is located on the front of the trigger guard. It tends to snag on things causing it to open while hunting. The Optima is on the back of the guard and haven’t had any problems whatsoever. I now own an Accura MR Nitride. It may possibly be the best hunting muzzleloader ever produced. I have an old CVA Optima Pro, similar probably to the wolf. The V2 has the longer barrel, for more accuracy and distance. I believe the breech is different. Most importantly, hold each and see which one "fits" the best.
