Sort of a tax question. I'm thinking of taking a swing at a prop firm that trades futures exclusively. My question is, they provide a 1099 to US residents. Would this mean the trader is like an independent contractor and is taxed on their payouts, or do you still pay taxes on capital gains as if you were trading your own private account?
